Chinese Conversation 2 - Introduction

The way Chinese introduce people are a little different from westerners. In this lesson you will learn how to introduce yourself and other people in Chinese from three basic conversations. For each conversation there is English transcript and then present withChinese Pinyin and characters.

Consider about beginners, all tones are marked with numbers to indicate correct tones. From 1-4, they indicate 4 different tones. 1 - first tone, 2 - second tone, 3 - third tone, 4 - fourth tone. and if there is no number, it indicates the "toneless" tone. Scene 1

English Transcription:

(in the conference hall.)

(Li Tao walks towards a conference delegate.)

Li Tao: Hello! I’m Li Tao. (hands over business card) This is my business card.

A:       So you’re Li Tao! How do you do? I’m very pleased to meet you.

Li Tao: What’s your surname?

A:       My surname is Zhang. My name is Zhang Xiaoming.

Li Tao: How do you do, Mr.Zhang!

A:       Just call me Xiaoming. (walks out)

A： 就叫我小明吧。（走出）

Wang: Pretty good, pretty good! What about your?

Li Tao: Quite good. Lao Wang, who is he? Is this your grandson?

Wang: This is my daughter’s son. (says to grandson) This is uncle Li

Li Tao:      How do you do.

Xiao Zhang: How do you do.

Li Hong:    Xiao Zhang, this is my daughter Lan Lan.

Xiao Zhang: Hello, Lan Lan.

Lan Lan:    Hello, Xiao Zhang.
